What kind of wood do you use?
We primarily use Western Red Cedar due to its natural resistance to rot and insects, as well as its beautiful grain. For specific architectural requests, we can also source Douglas Fir or specialty timbers.
Does the roof trap moisture against the wood?
No. Our mounting system uses specialized standoffs and EPDM gaskets that create a slight air gap, preventing moisture from being trapped between the polycarbonate and the wood rafters.
How often wood need to be re-stained?
Because the polycarbonate blocks 99.9% of UV rays and keeps the rain off the structural timbers, your stain will last significantly longer—often 3-5 years before needing a refresh, compared to every 1-2 years on an exposed structure.
